The New Orleans Pelicans matchup vs. the Dallas Mavericks has been postponed. Here’s what we know so far.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks were supposed to play a much-anticipated game tonight but like most things this year, things haven’t gone to plan.

According to Shams Charania, the game has been postponed:

Details are still coming in but it appears fans who were ready to see Zion Williamson square off against Luka Doncic are going to have to wait.

Here is what we know so far.

New Orleans Pelicans: Why was the game vs. the Dallas Mavericks postponed?

Four Dallas Mavericks were reportedly put in the NBA’s COVID protocol, which means they have either tested positive or been in contact with someone who has.

This left Dallas without the necessary eight players the league requires for a game.

So far there have been no members of the Pelicans put into COVID protocol.

When will New Orleans Pelicans vs. Dallas game be rescheduled?

There has been no announcement about when this game will be made up. This is one of the reasons the NBA left the second half of the schedule open, as there are going to be a lot of these, especially with COVID cases on the rise.

This begs the question of whether the NBA should have kept its bubble format until later in the season when the pandemic is hopefully more under control.

Adam Silver is going to have a lot of questions to answer and this season may have to be suspended once again.

It’s a crazy time for the whole world, including the NBA, who is going to have to be nimble if they want to have a season.
