New Orleans Pelicans: Lonzo, Zion, Adams and what do expect vs. Dallas
New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson at center
The Zion Williamson experiment at center needs to end…for now
We recently wrote about Zion Williamson and his defensive troubles at center.
On paper, the Pelicans should have a weapon with small-ball lineups with Zion at the five, but in reality, it has been a disaster.
While the ball movement and spacing might look better on offense, the defense has been atrocious with Zion playing center.
The problem is that Stan Van Gundy doesn’t have a whole lot of options, especially the way Jaxson Hayes and Nicolo Melli have played.
Could we see some Willy Hernangomez for a few minutes a game? (If not, why did they even sign him?)
Could Wenyen Gabriel eventually help?
Will the Pelicans make a trade to get more depth?
All of these things are possible, but for now, the Pels are struggling every time Adams goes to the bench and they have to use anyone else at center.
SVG needs to keep experimenting with lineups until he finds something that works.
It’s way too early to panic about this season but the Pels need to see a healthy Adams ,a committed Lonzo and no more Zion at center.
