New Orleans Pelicans: Can Nickeil Alexander-Walker outperform De’Aaron Fox?

NAW vs. Fox

Normally the De’Aaron Fox vs. Lonzo Ball matchup is one that I look forward to, as they have a rivalry that goes back to college.

But with Ball out, Nickeil Alexander-Walker will get his chance against Fox. NAW has looked fantastic over the last few games, though he still has issues with shot selection and turnovers.

He also played some nice defense on Dennis Schroder against the Lakers, using his size and foot speed to stay in front of the speedy Schroder and force him into tough shots.

Unfortunately, NAW’s minutes were limited because of foul trouble, and losing his scoring and defense really hurt the Pelicans in the second half against the Lakers.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker needs to stay out of foul trouble, take care of the ball and just keep doing what he’s been doing, which is being aggressive with dribble penetration and taking open shots when they are presented.

This game will give the New Orleans Pelicans a good idea of what they nave in Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Is he a guy who can be counted on to play big minutes once Lonzo returns?

Is he good enough to make Lonzo expendable? (NO)

Is he good enough to be the primary bench scorer on a playoff team? We’ll hopefully see.

NAW should be ready to prove himself against Fox and this will be the matchup to watch vs. the Kings.
