New Orleans Pelicans: Kira Lewis Jr. is earning more minutes

More Kira Lewis Jr.

Kira Lewis Jr. has gotten more minutes with Lonzo Ball out with injury and he has made the most of them.

Lewis Jr. gives the Pelicans elements that their offense has lacked, which are quickness and the ability to get into the lane.

Lewis Jr. looks like he can get wherever he wants on the floor and even though they haven’t all led to buckets, he is setting up teammates for high-percentage shots.

The rookie has also looked wise beyond his years running the offense, has not rushed anything and has only turned the ball over once in the last two games.

His minutes with Jaxson Hayes were mostly effective against the Kings and it looks like the two could have a budding relationship in the pick-and-roll.

When Lewis Jr. starts hitting those floaters more regularly and his teammates start hitting the open shots he is creating, he is a weapon off the bench, a guy who can create instant offense for himself and others.

I’ve really enjoyed watching Lewis Jr. so far and it appears the New Orleans Pelicans may have another piece of the core moving forward.

I’d like to see more of him, partially for his development but also because he gives the Pelicans their best chance to win.
