Pelicans vs. Wizards: Player Grades for the power forward and centers

Power Forwards and Centers

ZION WILLIAMSON. A. . Power Forward. New Orleans Pelicans

Zion Williamson was unstoppable for most of the game, as the Wizards didn’t really have an answer for him.

When they finally started double and triple-teaming him in the second half, Brandon Ingram took over and starting going off.

Zion ended with 32 points, two rebounds, two assists (should have been more but the Pels can’t make an open shot), two steals and a block.

His defense is still not great but as long as he is pouring in 30+ points a night the New Orleans Pelicans can live with it.

STEVEN ADAMS. A. . Center. New Orleans Pelicans

I really wish Steven Adams had been in the game when Alex Len got his flagrant foul against Zion Williamson because I was hoping the big Kiwi would deliver some revenge.

He got his vengeance on the boards instead, grabbing 18 of them, including six offensive rebounds. The Pels were clearly trying to get into their offense faster, so they were putting up some shots early in the shot clock, which you can get away with when you know Adams is there to clean up the misses.

It was another effective game for Adams on both ends, as his screens were freeing up Ingram all night.

D. . Center. New Orleans Pelicans. JAXSON HAYES

Jaxson Hayes did hit all four of his shots but only had one rebound in 15 minutes and got absolutely destroyed by Robin Lopez, who looks like a psychotic hobo clown.

Hayes made Lopez look like Hakeem Olajuwon out there.

The New Orleans Pelicans got a much-needed win against a terrible, shorthanded team, so let’s not get too excited.

But you have to beat the bad teams so it was nice that the Pels finally did.
