New Orleans Pelicans: What is Lonzo Ball’s trade value?

The Wild Card

I would call this last guy a wild card because his trade value fluctuates wildly depending on who you ask.

Some people think he is a future star who will net an asset while others would trade him for just about anything.

Trade Value: First-round pick and a mediocre wing

We’ve talked about nearly every Lonzo Ball trade scenario at this point but his value is hard to gauge.

If you just look at his numbers you’d say that he might not be worth a first-round pick, certainly not a high one, but there is much more to Lonzo’s value.

For one, he was the second pick in the draft and still hasn’t hit his ceiling. There could be a star lurking.

For two, Lonzo Ball has more fans than some whole teams. When you trade for him you get an instant fanbase and some buzz around your franchise, which may be worth more to teams looking to make a splash.

If the Pelicans do decide to move on from Lonzo Ball, I could see him packaged with someone like Redick for a star player, as moving him straight up might not get the Pels the return they are looking for.

The Pelicans have five guys who could be traded before the deadline and none of them are looking very valuable at this point. Their best option might be to be patient and see if other teams get desperate or if their players make themselves more attractive.
