New Orleans Pelicans: Lonzo Ball needs to seize a role or be traded

I’ve gotten pretty tired of hearing every excuse as to why Lonzo Ball has been bad this season, excuses that are never applied to other players.

When Nickeil Alexander-Walker or Eric Bledsoe have a bad game it is because they are “terrible” or “washed” but when Lonzo Ball has a bad game it’s always someone else’s fault. “He’s not being used correctly!”  “He’s not with the right players!”

Enough already.

Lonzo Ball has to play better, it’s that simple.

That being said, the Pelicans should try to expand his role offensively so that they can get a better idea of his future with the team.

I’d love to see Lonzo Ball do something other than stand at the 3-point line. Right now, he is contributing little when his long-range shots aren’t falling, so like his fans, I’d love to see Lonzo do more.

Unlike his fans, I don’t blame everyone else. This is on Lonzo. If he wants a bigger role then he needs to seize it by playing aggressively and showing he can be an Alpha Dog on offense, starting with this game against the Kings.

If not, then the New Orleans Pelicans probably need to move on, which is not what anyone wants. Another loss to a bad team with Lonzo doing little and he will start to look even more expendable.

The New Orleans Pelicans still have time but the clock is ticking and things will look even more pessimistic if they lose to the Kings at home.
