New Orleans Pelicans: Will the Pels trade Lonzo Ball?

The New Orleans Pelicans are still torn on whether or not to move on from point guard Lonzo Ball.

He has been largely inconsistent as a Pelican and certainly has not shown enough to warrant a max contract. If the Pels aren’t willing to give it to him, then they need to trade him, as some other team almost certainly will in the offseason.

Before the Pels can comfortably trade the only point guard they really have, they need to have a better idea of what they have in Kira Lewis Jr.

Is he the point guard of the future?

Can he be an NBA starter or is his destiny to be a lighting-in-a-bottle type player off the bench?

The Pels won’t know what Kira Lewis Jr. can be after only one season either way but they can get a much better idea of where they stand moving forward.

The combination of the Pels’ lousy record, the struggles of the guards and the future status of Lonzo Ball should be enough to get Kira Lewis Jr. some minutes.

They might not have a better option anyway, so it’s time for the rookie to get his run.
