New Orleans Pelicans: Trading for Maxi Kleber

The New Orleans Pelicans need a shake-up and J.J. Redick is the most-likely veteran to be traded. Nicolo Melli has been flat-out awful, which is why the Pels would have to attach a second-round pick for the Mavs to pick up his salary.

The Mavericks would be taking a chance that both Redick and Melli remember how to shoot and could provide the floor-spacing they need. Dallas is currently the worst 3-point shooting team in the NBA.

Kleber is not playing big minutes for the Mavs and is putting up the worst numbers of his career aside from 3-point percentage.

This trade would also give them a young center to bring off the bench in Jaxson Hayes. Hayes has been inconsistent but is only 20-years-old and would probably be an upgrade over what they have.

He could potentially play with Kristaps Porzingis, giving Dallas a very long team with a lot of shot-blocking.

The Mavs have been the most disappointing team in the NBA and are desperate to get back into it. This would be a risk on their part but it might be a risk worth taking, as Redick can be an impact talent if his shooting returns to form.
