New Orleans Pelicans: Maxi Kleber is a better fit than J.J. Redick

The Pelicans got off to a horrible start and look to have a roster with a lot of pieces that don’t fit.

They have too many guards, not enough forwards or bigs and the guards they do have been relegated to spot-up shooters who can’t shoot.

At this point, Redick, Melli and Hayes have been so bad that they would be addition by subtraction and there might not be a team in the league who wants any of these guys.

The Pels would do this trade even if they didn’t get anything back but Kleber would actually be a nice fit, as he is shooting 45 percent from long range this season (on low volume) and is the type of tough defender Stan Van Gundy likes.

Van Gundy’s offense works from the inside out, so the more bigs he has who can shoot and pass, the better.

Right now he has guys like Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe playing roles that would be better served by a stretch-four, as they aren’t doing anything but standing around the 3-point line anyway.

Both the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks need some new life and trading with each other might be the way to get it.
