New Orleans Pelicans: Trading for Victor Oladipo

The Houston Rockets aren’t contenders this season, though they are surprisingly 10-10 and just a game out of the final playoff spot.

We know this is not where teams want to be, so the Rockets are likely to start unloading some of their assets for a rebuild.

In this deal, they take on very little future money, as NAW is on a team-friendly deal and Redick would be expired after this season.

The Rockets would get future cap space, a project player with upside and a first-round draft pick from the Pels’ stockpile.

Oladipo is very good but there aren’t too many teams that would offer more for a guy who is not signed past this season and might want a max contract.

If the trade market for superstars fizzles, then Oladipo will be one of the more attractive pieces and Houston could start a bidding war but I still can’t see too many teams offering more than one first-round pick, an expiring and an NBA-ready talent with upside.

The Rockets wouldn’t hang up the phone, but what about the New Orleans Pelicans?
