If Bradley Beal’s not available the New Orleans Pelicans might be wise to consider adding Troy Brown Jr. to their team

Trade Candidate #3: Troy Brown Jr.

This is definitely not the player that many Pelicans fans want to see join the team from the Washington Wizards, but Troy Brown Jr. could be a sneaky good pickup for New Orleans.

Brown Jr. is still just 21-years old and was the 15th pick for the Wizards back in 2018. However with a new front office structure in place, and players like Deni Avdija and Rui Hachimura on the roster, Brown’s fallen out of favor in Washington.

So, why not go for a little reclamation project if you’re the Pelicans? After all, Brown is shooting 38 percent from deep in limited minutes in Washington and could inject the Pelicans bench with a reliable shooting threat.

At only 21, it’s very possible too that Stan Van Gundy and his staff could help him develop more on both ends of the floor to make him into a solid two-way wing. Just last season, Brown did flash some prowess in playmaking and rebounding that could make him fascinating when paired with Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Josh Hart in the second unit.

With Washington in the midst of rebuilding and trying to convince Bradley Beal to stay, a deal with a protected future first-round pick could be enough for Washington to sell on their former investment.

So there they are, not the sexiest names by any means but three players who could boost the ceiling of this New Orleans Pelicans team as they try to make the most out of their 2021 season.
