New Orleans Pelicans vs. Grizzlies: Player Grades for the small forwards

B-. . Small Forward. New Orleans Pelicans. BRANDON INGRAM

Brandon Ingram may have been on top of the list of players Josh Hart was calling out with his comments about committing on the defensive end.

Ingram is an offensive star, there is no doubt, but if he wants to take the next step into superstardom, then he needs to put in the work on defense.

He definitely gave more effort last night, with a block and two steals, and he had an efficient 22 points and added seven assists.

But he also added a whopping six turnovers, which is something that has quietly been his nemesis this season.

Ingram did a good job setting up teammates but he has to take better care of the ball. He also has to show up for the entire game, as Ingram has a bad habit of disappearing after the first quarter.

The offense has rightfully been going through Zion Williamson a lot more lately and Ingram will have to continue to adjust, but he has to take care of the ball when he is facilitating on that end.

Let’s hope we continue to see a renewed focus on defense from Ingram, as it is tough to win consistently in the NBA when one of your two best players is not competing on that end.
