Pelicans vs. Bucks: Grades for the power forward and centers
Zion Williamson continued to roll against the Bucks, pouring in 35 points, grabbing eight rebounds and tallying six assists in the loss.
He did turn the ball over five times which is an issue and only got to the line for five free throws, which is another.
The latter is certainly not Zion’s fault as he was getting hacked all night and not getting any calls.
This is a trend going back to last season, as he is getting the Shaq treatment from the refs, where something that is a foul on one player is not when it happens to Zion.
The league may need to take a look at this, as their 20-year-old poster child gets fewer foul calls than just about anyone in the league and it’s getting ridiculous.
Some of these guys are lucky Zion doesn’t have a temper, as he has every reason to level someone at this point.
Steven Adams once again led the New Orleans Pelicans in rebounds but we can’t overlook the fact that the Bucks had a staggering 64 points in the paint, which was the difference in the game.
This is Adams’ domain, though no one is going to fault him for giving up most of them to Giannis because there isn’t anyone in the NBA who can stop the Greek Freak.
Adams did have two blocks and a steal but the Bucks had their way in the paint overall.
Willy Hernangomez had a solid night, scoring ten efficient points and grabbing five rebounds in his 20 minutes of play. Hernangomez has solidified the backup center position and has been a pleasant surprise off the bench.
The New Orleans Pelicans are a work in progress and this would have been a big win, but they have to find a way to get more from their bench and stop going away from Zion Wiliamson with the game on the line.
