The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly sniffing around the trade market ahead of the second half of the season and one of the options the Pels are weighing up is Larry Nance Jr.

Nance currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he is arguably having his best NBA season to date. He is shooting it better than ever from deep, while continuing to progress as a playmaker and improving his defensive versatility.

Nance has not played since the start of February due to a finger injury, but could make his return after the all-star break. The Cavs’ first game after that? At the Smoothie King Center against New Orleans. Let’s see if Nance makes it to that game and, if he does, which uniform he is sporting.

The Pelicans are supposedly one of the many NBA teams pursuing Nance ahead of the trade deadline on March 25. The Cavs forward himself is aware of the rumors and doesn’t appear too thrilled with the possibility of leaving Cleveland:

However, the NBA is a thankless business like it or not. The players who demand trades are usually the ones who get the most buzz, but we can be too quick to forget players who would rather not get traded. Nance could fit into this latter category and just be forced—at least initially—to make the most of an unwanted situation.

However, I’m not too sure this is a move the Pelicans want to make. Nance is a talented player who seems to add something new to his arsenal every year, but does he truly raise the Pelicans’ ceiling in a significant way?
