New Orleans Pelicans: Why the Houston Rockets would do this trade

This Houston Rockets team has made a complete overhaul this season. They have a bunch of new players and they don’t really have an identity.

Sitting at second to last in the Western Conference, this team is not making the playoffs this year. Although they have been riddled with injuries in Christian Wood, Victor Oladipo, and John Wall, the Rockets just haven’t been able to bring it together this season.

The Rockets should be focused on building a future for the team and getting rid of some of the players on their roster to help make that happen. (PJ Tucker/Victor Oladipo)

In addition to that, PJ Tucker has already shown his frustrations in not receiving an extension offer, so if the Rockets want anything at all in return for the 35 year old vet, their best bet is to trade him away now because he is not only disappointed in the contract extension situation, but he no longer feels wanted inside the organization.

The Rockets get two expiring deals and a 2nd-round pick, which is probably about as much as they can expect for 35-year old PJ Tucker, the Pelicans get a guy who could help turn their defense around in the short term without giving up much.

A trade for PJ Tucker is imminent and the Big Easy could be the answer.
