Pelicans: Trading for KAT makes sense

The New Orleans Pelicans would love to add a third star around Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram and can’t yet be sure that Lonzo Ball is it.

Lonzo has had a nice season but KAT is a guy who is a proven star and would potentially be a perfect fit next to Zion.

The big issue here is defense, as KAT is not great defensively though he has improved. The Pels are near the top of the league in offense and near the bottom in defense, so adding another offensive player might not make them better overall unless they can drastically change their bench in the offseason.

But think of that offense!

KAT is a center who can score from all three levels, so any spacing concerns would be gone.

He and Zion in the pick-and-roll would be nearly impossible to stop, as Zion could barrel towards the hoop on the roll and KAT can shoot over just about anyone and make you pay for doubling off him to try and stop Zion.

KAT’s prowess from the outside would open the floor even more for guys like Ingram and Ball to go to work and would give the Pelicans the best offense in the NBA.

Of course, this team might also allow 150 points a game if they can’t find more defenders, so this trade would have to be part of many moves.
