NBA Top Shot: New Orleans Pelicans Players This Week

This week saw another Zion Williamson moment released, an alley-oop from the All-Star Game (feels like he had a million attempted oops in the game so that play was to be expected). If you wanted one of these, either be very rich or have good luck. The cheapest listed price for this moment was $1,160 as of this writing (Sat morning).

With this new All-Star moment, Zion now has 18 different moments available to buy on the marketplace. I feel like the market for a Zion moment is getting saturated as he now has a moment for every 3.5 games played (64 divided by 18) but then again the cheapest available moment for Zion is at $70 and even that crept up since I started writing this in the wee hours of the morning (don’t let pets into your room at night kiddos).

Another Pelican got their first moment with the team this week. Steven Adams’ dunk against the Kings will now live on hopefully forever. I bought a moment this morning because I’ve come to love what Adams brings to the game during his time with the Pels. This moment is on the cheap end of the market, the lowest listing is $11 affordable for anyone just now getting into the Top Shot game.

Over the course of the week, the prices for Pelicans moments have been a bit of a roller coaster but for the most part, the prices are back where they were last weekend. Before each drop Top Shot releases the moments that will be in the packs, you can use this knowledge to plan out what buys you’d like to make on the marketplace. Prices change dramatically during these after-drop periods, keep a sharp eye on moments that intrigue you and pounce when the price is right.

As Top Shot grows it will be interesting to see how deep into every team’s respective bench they go with minting moments. It makes sense to focus on the starters and key rotation players as those are the guys most fans will know. I’m still holding out hope we can get a Billy Hernangomez or JJ Redick moment, each has had an impact on this team and I’d like their contributions to show in this (right now) small online community.

When it comes to minting new moments, the hardest part for the Top Shot team has to be choosing which highlight will get turned into new moments. For instance, last night we saw two incredible plays from Ja Morant and Luka Doncic that could easily become the best moment for some players. But because those two create so many highlights in a game choosing which moment to put on Top Shot must be very difficult.

Zion Williamson is no different, as I mentioned before he already has 18 different moments on Top Shot. If they want to keep the value of his moments higher they could limit the number of new moments created for Zion. I expect there will be more moments for other Pels soon to kind of balance out this disparity. Brandon Ingram (5 moments) and Lonzo Ball (4 moments) would be my picks to see their moment total increase.

Next. The Pels should pursue a blockbuster for Karl-Anthony Towns. dark
