New Orleans Pelicans: Trade deadline prediction #3-Lonzo Ball will not be traded

No Pelican has been in more trade rumors than Lonzo Ball, who was most recently attached to the Los Angeles Clippers in speculation.

This has never made much sense to me, as Lonzo Ball seems like the type of player who will work well with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram long term.

Of course, his legion of myopic fans disagree and some even believe that the Pels are intentionally submarining his season in order to lower his value.

If you’d take off the tin foil hat for minute, it might be easier to see that Ball is having his best season as a pro and has made himself even more valuable than he was when he had slightly more assists and rebounds.

Lonzo’s fans might not see this but I believe that both Lonzo and the New Orleans Pelicans do, so I predict he is not going anywhere, at least not yet.

The Pels probably want to see how this season plays out and  what the market looks like for Ball before they’ll make their offer in the offseason.

Of course, if the Pels already know what the market is and don’t want to go that high, then Ball could still be moved, but it seems like they’d be selling low, as no one is going to give fair market value for a guy who could end up leaving at the end of the season.

I predict that Lonzo Ball will still be a Pelican on March 26th but if he isn’t, expect him to be part of a blockbuster to bring impact talent to New Orleans.
