Forget Gordon, Vucevic should be the New Orleans Pelicans’ trade target

New Orleans Pelicans: Trading for Nikola Vucevic

The Pelicans have the draft assets to trade for just about anyone who is on a team trying to rebuild, but do they have the players to get Vucevic?

The obvious choice would be to send them Steven Adams and a ton of draft picks, but that couldn’t happen until the offseason, as Adams only recently signed an extension and isn’t eligible for a trade.

But if the Pels were to acquire Vucevic, it would almost certainly mean the end of the Adams’ era unless the Pels wanted to go with a giant team with Vuvevic at power forward, which I would love to see.

Here is a trade that could work.

If the Magic wanted to rebuild, this is one way to do it, as they get an ascending young talent in Jaxson Hayes to try and develop, a load of open cap space with two expiring deals and three first-round draft picks.

The Pels could pile on a few more second-round picks if this wasn’t enough, so this would give Orlando a massive haul that they could rebuild around.

Vucevic’s value may never be higher, so the Magic might decide to strike while they can and get The Godfather offer from one of the teams with the most draft capital to give in a trade.

But would the Pels be interested?
