The New Orleans Pelicans will be watching the Sweet 16 and one standout player in particular in the Arkansas vs. Oral Roberts game.

I wrote about shooting guard Moses Moody as a possible pick for the Pelicans, and he can continue to strengthen his case by extending his team’s run in the NCAA Tournament.

Moody had a strong game against Texas Tech and will try to add another to lead Arkansas to the Elite 8.

He is projected to go in the top-15 of the NCAA Draft on most draft boards and in the top-ten in many of them, but that could change if he adds a few more strong games on national television.

The Pelicans will be one of the teams watching.

New Orleans Pelicans: Where do the Pels stand in the lottery?

The Pelicans would currently hold the 8th pick if the lottery went as planned, which it rarely does, but barring a huge shift, the Pels will likely choose in the top-ten.

This is right in the range Moody is predicted to be in, so the Pels should have a chance to draft the shooting guard in the first round.

Not only does he fall in the Pels’ draft range but he offers a skillet that the Pelicans desperately need.

How would Moses Moody fit on the New Orleans Pelicans?

Moody is quite young and will barely be 19-years-old at the time of the draft, so he would be another project player but one who might be able to contribute sooner rather than later.

He has great size for the two guard position at 6-foot-6, and scouts think he will put on more strength and weight, which should permit him to defend multiple spots on the perimeter, which is something the Pelicans need.

They also need shooting and Moody can provide that as well, as he projects to be a potentially elite shooter in the NBA with a smooth stroke with no mechanical flaws.

The Pelicans need more depth at shooting guard (assuming they eventually move on from Eric Bledsoe) and would love to have another 3-and-D type player to put around Zion Williamson.

Moody is starting to get more attention and will get even more if his team continues to win games. He is one to watch, as he will likely be around when the Pelicans draft and would give them the size and shooting they need.
