The New Orleans Pelicans have had a recent surge behind the brilliance of Zion Williamson, who is making his case for the All-NBA team at just 20-years-old.
Zion already joined an elite group by making the All-Star game at such a young age and has only gotten better since then.
He has taken over as the primary ball-handler and facilitator for the Pelicans, who have had the best offense in the NBA since that time.
So much for Steven Adams causing spacing issues, huh?
Zion is setting records nearly every night, is virtually unstoppable on offense and is making everyone around him better.
Sounds like a player who should make the All-NBA team, so what are Zion’s chances?
New Orleans Pelicans: Will Zion Williamson make the All-NBA team?
In my opinion, if Zion Williamson continues to play like this, he is a lock for the All-NBA team, especially if the Pelicans end up sneaking into the playoffs.
His chances will largely depend on how some players are viewed, as guys like Zion and Luka Doncic are listed as forwards by some sites, but clearly play more like point guards, especially Luka.
Of the six spots open for forwards, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo are locks and I would also add Kawhi Leonard to that list.
That leaves two spots open for competition between guys like Zion, Jayson Tatum, Julius Randle, Jaylen Brown and even someone like Jerami Grant.
Of those players, Zion Williamson is the frontrunner along with Jayson Tatum, especially if their two teams end up in the playoffs, which is possibility.
Zion is currently 4th among forwards in scoring (again, depending on who you count as a forward) and has improved his rebounding, passing and defense as well.
Over his last ten, Zion Williamson has been unbelievable, scoring 29.1 points, getting 6.4 rebounds and adding 3.9 assists while shooting an insane 75 percent from the field.
Zion Williamson is changing the NBA with his Shaq-like dominance and is well on his way to being on the All-NBA team at age 20, which should have Pelicans fans excited.
