New Orleans Pelicans: Can Lonzo Ball be “the” guy with Zion and Ingram out?

Another interesting subplot of the season is the evolution of Lonzo Ball.

He came back from injury and had one of his best games of the season with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram out, showing an ability to be the first scoring option if necessary.

Lonzo hit a career-high eight 3-pointers and gave the Pels a lesson in why they need to re-sign him in the offseason.

The Pels will need him to continue to be the first option on offense, to create for his teammates and hit open shots when he gets them.

Lonzo has taken a secondary role as a facilitator this season with Zion playing more of a point forward, but with Zion and Ingram out, the Pels need Lonzo to be the point guard we all know he can be.

This is Lonzo’s chance to continue to show his value to the franchise and why they should cough up $20 million a season for him on his next contract.

Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram don’t have the greatest histories when it comes to injuries, so ‘Zo needs to show he can not only be the third piece when they are healthy, but that he can be the man if they aren’t.

The New Orleans Pelicans hope to answer some of the many questions they have heading into this game vs. the Hawks.

Next. The Pels now have three options when it comes to Lonzo Ball. dark
