New Orleans Pelicans: Can someone please step up?

Zion Williamson has been brilliant for the New Orleans Pelicans this season. He is breaking scoring records left and right and looks like a generational superstar already, evidenced by the fact that he already has his own signature shoe.

Brandon Ingram has had another great season, though it is being overlooked by fans obsessed with the Zion hype, the Lonzo Ball soap opera and a misguided notion that Ingram is somehow not a fit.

The question is who is going to step up and be that third guy? Zion and Ingram have averaged 56.4 points between them over the last ten games, but the problem has been that no one else has consistently chipped in.

Lonzo Ball has disappeared since being red hot then getting injured. Josh Hart is injured. Eric Bledsoe has been completely broke.

Naji Marshall has really been the team’s third-best player over the last few games, which was probably not part of the plan entering the season.

If Lonzo Ball is not going to be that consistent third scoring option, then I don’t see how the New Orleans Pelicans can offer him $20 million a season, especially with his injury history.

It would be nice to see someone other than Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram have big game for the Pelicans and if they can’t do it against the bottom feeder Magic, then it is a sign they might need to move on from some of these guys in the offseason.
