New Orleans Pelicans vs. Warriors: Grades for the wings

B. . Wing. New Orleans Pelicans. JAMES JOHNSON

James Johnson played 17 minutes before apparently suffering or reaggravating a knee injury.

The veteran forward was helped to the locker room, but he had already been dealing with knee issues prior to Friday’s game against the Warriors. His status is currently unknown.

Prior to leaving the floor, Johnson had made both of his field goals and dished out three assists. I hope this was not his last game in a Pelicans uniform.

Didi Louzada followed up his debut with another solid outing.

The Brazilian forward got 23 minutes to show what he can do. On offense, it was an up-and-down showing, but he did make two spot-up threes that figure to be important for his NBA projection.

Louzada was an awfully inconsistent outside shooter in the Australian league despite his great defense, so he will need to convert on easy outside shots in order to be a respected 3-and-D wing in the NBA. Besides those couple of threes, though, he missed all of his other shots.

On the defensive end, Louzada was once again exciting, although I wish we could have gotten to see him against Stephen Curry or Andrew Wiggins. New Orleans’ new swingman finished the night with two steals and having provided plenty of effort.
