The New Orleans Pelicans will have their eyes on the NBA playoffs, starting with the Miami Heat vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.

There are a lot of potential free agents in this series, many of who might be able to help the Pelicans in one way or another.

The Pelicans have some glaring holes that much is clear, and there are at least five free agents in the Heat vs. Bucks series that could help fix them.

I’ve chosen to focus on the Miami Heat, whose potential free agents all represent needs for the Pelicans.

New Orleans Pelicans: NBA free agent Victor Oladipo

Early this season when the Pelicans were still thinking of the playoffs, I suggested that they might try and trade for Victor Oladipo.

I still like a lot of what Oladipo brings to the table, especially on defense but he is 29-years-old and coming off another knee injury.

It’s unknown if he’ll even be ready to play, so it will be interesting to see what type of deal he gets. If Oladipo wanted to sign a one year, low-cost deal to rebuild his value, then the Pels might be interested in him as a bench guard, but otherwise this one isn’t happening.

The Pelicans definitely need an upgrade at guard and Oladipo would be a better fit with Zion Williamson than Eric Bledsoe has been, but he is probably going to cost too much for the Pels to consider.

Like I said, on a short deal it might make some sense but there are better options out there than Victor Oladipo who don’t have as many red flags.
