The New Orleans Pelicans could be very active in NBA free agency depending on a lot of factors.

They have a number of their own free agents to make decisions on and there are pretty good odds that some or even all of them won’t be back.

If the Pelicans let Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart walk, which is possible, then they are going to have some cap space to splash around in free agency.

Even if they only sign one of them, the Pelicans should have some amount of cap space, especially if they can manage to trade Eric Bledsoe without taking back an equal salary. They would likely have to include an asset to do that, but it may be worth it if the Pelicans can clear another near-max slot to use in free agency.

So, there are a lot of moving parts that could lead to the Pelicans having a lot or a little to spend in free agency.

New Orleans Pelicans: What do the Pels need from NBA free agency?

What the Pelicans need will ultimately depend on how many of their own free agents they retain.

But either way we know the Pelicans need to get better defensively, they need to improve their shooting, get tougher and generally find players who know how to win.

The Utah Jazz have three potential free agents who might be able to help the New Orleans Pelicans fill some of those needs.

Two of them are on the low-cost end of free agency, while the third would make a major splash.
