New Orleans Pelicans: Two low-cost free agents from the Utah Jazz

Ersan Ilyasova

Ilyasova is 34-years-old and is having one of his least impactful seasons as a professional. He missed time due to injuries and often couldn’t get off the bench much for a very good Jazz team.

Ilyasova will be on a veteran’s minimum deal again next season, so he won’t break the bank, and he provides a few things the Pelicans need, which are toughness and 3-point shooting. Ilyasova still hit 43.9 percent of his long-range shots this season.

His health is an issue but he’d be a cheap option as a stretch-four.

Georges Niang

Niang is another low-cost veteran who can come off the bench and provide 3-point shooting. He shot 42.5 percent this season on 4.1 attempts per game, which would look pretty good coming off the Pels’ bench.

He can play both forward spots, so would give the Pels some flexibility and he’s likely to be on a team-friendly deal even though he is coming off his best season.

Niang is only 27, will be relatively inexpensive and can provide 3-point shooting that could improve in an expanded role.
