Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans is used to being in trade rumors involving Paul George.

The two have been linked in trades going back to Ingram’s days on the Lakers, when there was a brief window when the Lakers were attached in rumors to George and not Anthony Davis.

Recently, some around the Twitterverse have wondered aloud if the Pelicans would consider including Brandon Ingram in a trade for an established star.

The Clippers are a team for the Pels to watch, as a first-round loss this year in the playoffs might prompt them to blow things up, especially if Kawhi Leonard decides to leave in free agency.

If Leonard re-signs then expect the Clippers to just try to add more players around him and George and run it back, but if he doesn’t?

New Orleans Pelicans: Paul George could be a trade target

In the scenario where Leonard leaves, the Clippers would likely try to move 30-year-old Paul George to get maximum value for him to start a rebuild.

The Pelicans are one of the teams that have the players and draft assets to acquire Paul George and some have speculated that they would even put Brandon Ingram on the table.

Would this be enough?

In this trade, the Pelicans get their veteran star to pair with Zion Williamson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jaxson Hayes and Lonzo Ball.

The Clippers get their restart with Ingram, a first-round pick, but have to eat Eric Bledsoe’s contract in exchange. Since the Clippers are getting the younger, cheaper player and getting a pick, they have to take Bledsoe’s deal off the Pels’ hands.

Would either team do this? There is an argument for the New Orleans Pelicans either way.
