New Orleans Pelicans: 2 good players on bad teams the Pels could target
New Orleans Pelicans: Jerami Grant would be a perfect fit
A much-better option would be Jerami Grant, who had a breakout season for the Detroit Pistons even though they only won 20 games.
Grant was always a role player in Denver but broke out in an expanded role and showed that he can be a weapon on both ends of the floor in Detroit.
Grant is an outstanding defender who can cover at least three positions, and he can shoot the 3-point shot, so he’d be a perfect addition to the Pelicans, as he could play with both Zion and Ingram without a problem.
He is also younger and cheaper than Love, which is why it would take quite a haul to pry him from Detroit.
The Pistons would almost certainly want at least three first-round picks for Grant, but if that is all it takes (along with Bledsoe’s salary) then the Pels should jump on it, as he has the skills to help them get to the next level.
The New Orleans Pelicans don’t need any more youth, so if they can use their draft assets to get a good player from a rebuilding team, they should take their shot.
