New Orleans Pelicans: Teresa Weatherspoon is ready for a shot

The last coach that the New Orleans Pelicans should consider is Teresa Weatherspoon. Similar to Hammon and Cassell, Weatherspoon comes with a large amount of experience.

Weatherspoon has won two gold medals, played in the WNBA (Five-Time all-star), and has coached at the NBA level.

Before being a full-time assistant with the Pelicans, Weatherspoon was the interim coach at Lousiana Tech. In 2019, she was hired as the two-way developmental coach for NO and would be promoted to full-time assistant the next year.

The WNBA legend would be a great fit as a head coach for NO because of her experience at every level. She is a no-nonsense type of coach/personality that this squad needs.

Weatherspoon can continue to help develop this young core and provide this organization with a fresh slate.

Understandably, there are a few coaches that are being considered before her but it’s time to try something new. It’s time for franchises to stop recycling old coaches and hire from a different cloth.

New Orleans needs to consider hiring Weatherspoon because it is outside of the box and other coaches who “lack experience” have already gotten a chance to lead.

Whoever takes the reigns as the next coach in NOLA, needs to be the right one, otherwise, Griffin may be in trouble.
