The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly interested in trading the 10th pick in the NBA Draft for a reliable veteran.

Zach Harper from the Athletic (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) floated the idea that the Pelicans might want to move their pick for a proven player, saying,

"“The Pelicans already have so many young guys, and people around the NBA are expecting them to move this pick for some veteran help, according to league sources. How significant of a player the 10th pick in this draft would bring back is where the confusion hits for a lot of people prognosticating this stuff. David Griffin is always active with these trades, though.”"

There are also reports that the Pelicans called the Pistons to see what it might cost to get number one, but I am guessing Detroit hung up the phone unless the words “Zion Williamson” were uttered.

But trading the #10 pick makes a lot of sense and is something we have written about in the past, as the Pels don’t need another project, they need guys who can make an impact right now.

Here are some veteran players the New Orleans Pelicans could target, ranging from young guys who are still getting better to older players in their twilight.

New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Trading for Jonathan Isaac

Jonathan Isaac of the Orlando Magic is name to watch, as the Magic are tearing down their roster and may want to add yet another lottery pick instead of paying Isaac, who was once the 6th overall pick.

He is still just 23-years old and could provide some of the rim protection the Pelicans lack, and is a guy who should get even better, especially when it comes to shooting from 3-point range.

This might be too much to give up for Isaac, who has missed a lot of time due to injury, but the Pelicans are going to have to pay a premium if they want to move Bledsoe and the #10 pick is it.

It’s intriguing given Isaac’s potential, but I think the Pels can probably do better.
