The New Orleans Pelicans have been in a ton of offseason trade rumors and given their current position in the league, it makes sense.

The Pels are obviously building around superstar Zion Williamson, but still have a nice collection of young players and assets that could make them players in almost any trade.

They’ve been rumored to be shopping the 10th pick in a trade for a proven veteran and may also try to move Eric Bledsoe‘s contract at some point in the offseason.

Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade with the Toronto Raptors involving big man Chris Boucher, and while I like Boucher as a player, the trade doesn’t really make sense.

New Orleans Pelicans: Proposed trade for Chris Boucher

Here is the hypothetical trade for Chris Boucher:

The two second-round picks involved in this really mean nothing, as the Pelicans have four of them and can’t use them all anyway, so they are likely to make a trade using that surplus of low-value assets.

So the real trade is Chris Boucher for Jaxson Hayes, who is just 21-years-old and has been up and down for the Pelicans in his short career.

But would the Pelicans actually consider this trade? Ultimately I don’t think it makes much sense, but there are some reasons to at least mull it over.
