Pelicans draft picks: NBA Draft prospect, Nah’Shon Hyland

Nah’Shon Hyland is a guy I usually see projected to be in the late first or early second round, so he might be a bit of a sleeper with pick 17, but he has been impressive in workouts and has a lot of skills that fit the New Orleans Pelicans.

Hyland is a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, but has a 6-foot-9 wingspan that allows him to disrupt passing lanes and get deflections and steals.

He has the potential to be a very good on-the-ball defender who should be able to cover a few spots on the perimeter.

He can also shoot, hitting 37 percent of his long range shots on 7.8 attempts per game, which is a high volume for a college player. He shot 43 percent his freshman year on fewer attempts and also put on absolute shooting display at the combine that caught the eye of scouts.

The New Orleans Pelicans can go a lot of ways with the 17th pick in the NBA Draft and I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up trading it, but there are some exciting possibilities in a deep group.
