Pelicans draft picks: NBA Draft prospects to avoid, Cameron Thomas

Thomas played for LSU, so most Pelicans’ fans are familiar with his work.

He is an electric scorer and put on a display in the NCAA tournament, where he often looked like the best player on the floor and a guy who will shine at the next level.

But Thomas was also incredibly inefficient, probably due to his high usage, and the Pelicans already have plenty of scoring.

He was not a good 3-point shooter or playmaker, so spent a lot of time playing iso-ball at LSU. The Pelicans already have issues with ball movement and too much iso at times, so don’t really need another guy who needs the ball in his hands to be effective.

Thomas could end up being more efficient and improving his 3-point shooting once he is not the focal point of the offense, but I don’t think he’s the best fit with what they already have.

I could see Thomas having some big scoring nights off the bench for someone, but I don’t think it should be the New Orleans Pelicans.
