New Orleans Pelicans: Didi Louzada- Grade D

After signing a four-year deal in free agency, Pelicans fans were eager to see Didi Louzada on the court. What was excitement quickly turned into concern after a lackadaisical effort by the native Brazilian.

In 21 minutes of play, Louzada scored just 3 points while shooting just 1 for 6 from the floor. From the jump, he looked disengaged and was never able to find his footing throughout.

He is supposed to be an asset on the defensive side of the floor but did a lot of ball watching and was beat off the dribble multiple times. There were moments Louzada looked like he was in slow motion, reacting late to the play and giving up points as a result.

On offense, he did a lot of standing around, forcing up some questionable takes. Unlike many of his peers, he struggled to play within the flow of the offense and was unable to make an imprint on that side of the court.

It’s just one game, but with a long-term deal and multiple years of professional basketball under his belt, I was left incredibly disappointed in Louzada’s performance for the New Orleans Pelicans. Hopefully, he can turn his fortunes around, or this could end up as another David Griffin blunder.
