New Orleans Pelicans: Trey Murphy III in the starting lineup

I don’t want to overreact to two Summer League games, but it looks like the Pelicans may have done well in the draft to get Trey Murphy III with the 17th pick.

Murphy III looks like an NBA player already, has great size and length and can knock down shots. He also looks like he’s going to be a plus defender who will give effort on that end, which is exactly what the Pelicans need.

Call me crazy, but this is a Pelicans’ starting lineup I want to see:

  • PG: Nickeil Alexander-Walker
  • SG: Trey Murphy III
  • SF: Brandon Ingram
  • PF: Zion Williamson
  • C: Jonas Valanciunas

3M3 can cover some of Ingram’s deficiencies on defense while also putting another shooter around Zion Williamson.

I am sure we will see some of this group together at some point and I really love the fact that they could create mismatches all over the place offensively and be very switchable on defense.

But there is one more guy I think has a chance to play that role.
