New Orleans Pelicans: NBA Free Agent Lauri Markkanen

Of all of these guys, I think Markkanen is the best potential fit, as he is a 7-footer who can shoot, create his own offense and could potentially be lethal in the pick-and-roll with Zion Williamson.

The Markkanen prospects are complicated by the fact that he’s a restricted free agent and the Bulls are trying to fleece the Pelicans in a sign-and-trade.

I thought Markkanen should have been the player included in the sign-and-trade of Lonzo Ball, but the Pels ended up with Garrett Temple and Tomas Satoransky and now the Bulls are trying to squeeze the Pels for a first-round pick for Markkanen.

This is complicated even further by an ongoing tampering investigation involving these two teams and the Bulls may be trying to get that pick in case they lose one as punishment.

But as a basketball fit, I really like Markkanen, as he has high-ceiling potential and could end up being a value contract if he puts it all together and can stay healthy.

The offseason is not over yet for the New Orleans Pelicans and there are still some intriguing possibilities in free agency.
