If you didn’t know, this is NBA Dunk Week, which means the New Orleans Pelicans are re-visiting some of the top dunks by superstar Zion Williamson.

There are plenty to choose from and you could definitely make a top-25 list just out of the alley-oops Lonzo Ball threw to him the last two seasons.

Here are the five dunks that the New Orleans Pelicans chose, which I will call “The Kevin Knox Rip,” “The 3/4 court alley oop from Lonzo,” “Rebound dunk off J.J.’s miss,” “On the break from Lonzo” and “Point Zion goes coast to coast.”

It’s a solid top-5 although there was plenty of competition, as Zion Williamson seems to have at least one highlight-reel dunk every game.

Here is how I would rank those top-5 dunks.

New Orleans Pelicans: Ranking Zion Williamson’s top-5 dunks

#5: Rebound off J.J.’s miss

J.J. Redick was kind enough to miss shots all season, giving Zion Williamson ample opportunity for putback dunks.

Zion gets off the floor quicker than just about any player in the NBA, so if he’s around the rim during a miss, expect him to corral it. This one was nice, but nothing particularly special.

#4: On the break from Lonzo

One thing I will really miss about Lonzo is his spectacular passes. Ball wasn’t very good in the half court, but in transition there are few players in the NBA who can make the passes he does.

I love how Lonzo doesn’t hesitate when he gets the ball, his head is up and he fires a bullet to Zion, who knows how to finish. It’s too bad we didn’t see more of this last season in Stan Van Gundy’s slow offense.

#3: Alley-oop from Lonzo

You know your highlight reel is strong when a 3/4 court alley-oop isn’t even your top dunk. This was one of my favorite plays to watch, as I really don’t think there are many guys in the NBA who can make or catch this pass.

Lonzo knows he just has to get it anywhere near the rim for Zion to go up and get it.

#2: Point Zion coast to coast

This play didn’t look like much, as Zion Williamson sort of casually brings the ball up without looking like he was going to do much with it.

The first thing the defense is supposed to do is stop the ball, which they didn’t here and Zion just continued to stroll down the lane, ho hum, nothing to see here, and then just takes off out of nowhere while the helpless Kings stand by and watch.

Steven Adams set a great screen on this one but Zion tricked the defender and went the other way before unleashing a monstrous one handed slam.

#1: The Kevin Knox rip

The dunk itself wasn’t that great, but the rip and the reaction from the crowd secure the number one spot for this dunk.

Kevin Knox is a pretty decent player and actually had a good game in this one, but no one is going to remember that, as he was humbled on this play when Zion just simply ripped it out of his hands before stepping over him for the rim rattling dunk. It was fairly disrespectful and amazing all at once.

I am certain Zion Williamson will continue to add to this highlight reel and that we’ll have to re-visit his best dunks list at some point next season.
