The New Orleans Pelicans can’t stay out of the trade rumor mill, and for some reason, Brandon Ingram always seems to be involved.

Some have questioned Ingram’s fit alongside Zion Williamson, which has led to speculation that the Pels will eventually trade him for a haul that is better suited.

The Pelicans have never indicated that this is an option, and in fact signed Ingram to a max deal and clearly think he is part of the long-term future with Zion.

The most recent trade proposal came from Bleacher Report, which seems to have no regard for the New Orleans Pelicans when it comes to making up fake trades.

Here is what they came up with:

This might be the worst one yet.

New Orleans Pelicans: Why would the Pelicans trade Brandon Ingram?

If you are one of the fans who value “potential” over all else, then this trade makes sense, as the Pelicans would get two guys in Wiseman and Kuminga who look like solid prospects.

Wiseman could eventually develop a shot and Kuminga could develop into a two-way forward, though I think his offense is still a long way away.

That’s a whole lot of “coulds” especially when we already know for a fact that Ingram is an All-Star level talent who just turned 24-years-old.

Also, I’d say there’s a chance that Jaxson Hayes ends up being better than Wiseman or at least as good, especially if he starts launching and making 3-pointers as he did towards the end of last season.

While I understand the urge to build a strong core of young talent around Zion Williamson, the Pelicans already have plenty of it with guys like Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Trey Murphy III and Kira Lewis Jr.

But you don’t give up a young All-Star who is locked into a deal for a bunch of maybes and Andre Wiggins who will be making over $30 million in each of the next two seasons.

I don’t think the Pelicans have the time to constantly be taking steps back by going even younger around Zion, who eventually wants to make the playoffs or could be on his way out the door.
