New Orleans Pelicans: Ranking guards from the 2019 NBA Draft  #7-5

#7  Talen Horton-Tucker- Los Angeles Lakers

Some might say this is too high, as Talen Horton-Tucker’s numbers don’t jump out at you, but he has proven he can be a rotation player on a championship caliber team and that matters.

THT won a ring as a rookie and earned his way into the rotation of a good team that had title aspirations. The Lakers were ultimately undone by injury but Horton-Tucker showed himself to be a reliable and versatile defender who does a lot of of the little things. The Lakers agreed, and rewarded him with a nice extension. Let’s see if he lives up to it.

#6  Coby White- Chicago Bulls

Coby White had a nice season last year, improving upon his very good rookie season where he showed he can be a consistent scoring option.

He averaged 15.1 points, 4.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds and had some big games for the Bulls. White is going to play big minutes again for the Bulls, probably off the bench, where he might thrive as an “instant offense” type guy.

#5 Tyler Herro- Miami Heat

This is another one that I am sure some people will disagree with, as Herro has already been a good player on a Finals team and averaged 15 points and five rebounds last season off the bench for a good team.

Herro has a nice offensive game, and he was put in a great situation to succeed when he went to a good, well-coached team that made the most of his abilities. He doesn’t defend well, and only averaged 3.4 assists in 30 minutes per game last season.

It’s not Herro’s fault that he was put in the ideal situation to succeed and I think he is going to be a very good player for a long time, but I think some of these other guys might have had more success if given his opportunity and have a slightly higher ceiling overall.
