New Orleans Pelicans: Jaxson Hayes shooting 3’s

In the latter parts of last season, Jaxson Hayes starting shooting and hitting more shots from behind the arc.

He has a nice shot and was one of the Pelicans’ best free-throw shooters last season, so this is a weapon that many feel he can develop.

A stretch-five who runs the floor and blocks shots is pretty much the perfect complement to Zion Williamson, so if Hayes can become that guy, the Pelicans may have their center of the future.

This would also give Hayes a chance to get more minutes playing some at power forward with either Valanciunas or Hernangomez if the Pelicans wanted to go big.

Well, according to Pelicans’ announcer Antonio Daniels, the early returns look good:

Jaxson Hayes has a chance to be an X-Factor for the New Orleans Pelicans this season. If he can defend like he did late last year while spacing the floor, he might make Valanciunas and his expiring contract expendable in a trade.

It’s only one day of practice, but I am excited to see what Jaxson Hayes is going to do this season.
