New Orleans Pelicans: Trey Murphy III is an impact player

Trey Murphy III is in his rookie season and most of the time you don’t expect the 17th pick in the draft to come in and make an impact right away, but Murphy is showing he is going to be that guy.

He continued his hot shooting from Summer League, knocking down 6-of-10 from 3-point range and ending the game with 21 points.

He also added six boards, made several hustle plays and showed that he can defend all over the place.

He came into the game and played power forward next to Jaxson Hayes and held his own but he also played on the perimeter.

His defensive versatility and shooting are going to help the Pelicans on the wing this season and Murphy III may play his way into the starting lineup at some point.

The game had plenty of mistakes but hopefully the Pelicans will start to iron out the problems as the preseason progresses and they get ready for the games that matter.

It’s great to have New Orleans Pelicans basketball back and I can’t wait to see this team at full strength.
