New Orleans Pelicans: Focus on moving the ball

The Pelicans talked a lot about playing .5 basketball in training camp, which means a player has half a second to either dribble, shoot or pass the ball once receiving it.

This did not translate to the first preseason game, as the Pelicans looked stagnant in the half court with very little player or ball movement.

The Pelicans went a long stretch without scoring against the ‘Wolves, and almost all of it was in the half court, as they weren’t stopping Minnesota on the other end.

Brandon Ingram shot the ball well but he had to make some tough shots to do it that mostly came from isolation plays and him dribbling off screens.

Obviously, getting Zion Williamson back will solve some of these issues, as he will draw double teams which will make it easier to move the ball.

But while he is out, it would be nice to see the Pelicans move the ball a little more fluidly and create some open shots without having to rely on one-on-one plays.
