New Orleans Pelicans: Move Devonte’ Graham around

Devonte’ Graham started at point guard in the first preseason game and didn’t have his best performance, though we can’t read too much into it.

He struggled to run the offense in the half court, which is something he probably won’t be asked to do much this season playing with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram at the same time.

I’d like to see how Graham plays off the ball a little more in the second game, as that is what he’ll often be doing this season.

The Pelicans’ offense was more fluid with Tomas Satoransky and the bench, partially because Sato is more of a traditional point guard and Graham is more of a hybrid who had to learn to play off the ball last season with LaMelo Ball.

I’m hoping Willie Green will put Graham in a better position to succeed in game 2, as he didn’t really play to his strengths and ended up turning the ball over four times.

Preseason is the time to make tweaks, and I’ll be curious to see what Willie Green changes between the first two games.
