New Orleans Pelicans: Trey Murphy III is the best rookie in the NBA!

Ok, it is way to soon to proclaim this but fans of the New Orleans Pelicans have to be excited about what they have seen from rookie Trey Murphy III so far.

He is a guy I thought would thrive in New Orleans, and so far he has, making the first-team All Summer League and putting on impressive performances in the first two preseason games.

Look, we’ve seen preseason superstars disappear a million times, but Murphy III is not going to be one of them, as this kid has all of the tools to succeed on the wing.

He is an outstanding 12-of-19 from 3-point range so far in preseason and has such a good looking shot that I am actually shocked when they don’t go in.

Murphy III has also been impressive on the boards, grabbing another six, bringing his totals for two preseason games to 41 points and 12 rebounds to go with his hot shooting.

He has done this while being incredibly efficient with the ball, barely taking any dribbles to get his shots and moving it quickly when he is not open.

Murphy III has also done this without the benefit of Zion Williamson creating open shots, so I expect he will get even better looks once the games start for real.

If you are looking for a long shot bet on the Pelicans, go drop some coin on Trey Murphy III to win Rookie of the Year.
