New Orleans Pelicans: Time to cut Devonte’ Graham loose on offense

Devonte’ Graham is another guy who has started the season poorly, but I am even less worried about him than Hart.

Graham has been asked to be more of a facilitator as the starting point guard in an offense without Zion and Ingram, which is not going to be his strength.

Graham is best when he is looking for his own shot first, as he is more of a tweener than a traditional point guard and plays well off the ball, which is what he’ll be doing a lot when Zion returns.

To best take advantage of the type of “instant offense” he can create, it might be best to move Graham to the bench and make him the 6th man. Graham might be better served if he doesn’t have to worry as much about getting teammates involved but can instead just come in and try to score, which is what he does best.

He’s clearly been trying to get teammates involved as the point guard, but has struggled so far, so I’d like to see coach Green tinker with a different role for him in the preseason finale.

The truth is that getting Zion Williamson back is going to solve a lot of the New Orleans Pelicans’ problems, but it would also be nice to start building some of the role players up before that happens.
