New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson’s anime suit turns heads
The New Orleans Pelicans still don’t have Zion Williamson on the court but some of his outfits have been turning heads off the court.
Zion has been in street clothes on the bench for the Pelicans so far this season and there is no really timeline for his return.
The New Orleans Pelicans have had some bright spots without him, notably the play of the starting lineup, which has all been pretty good except for the inconsistent shooting of Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
Brandon Ingram and Jonas Valanciunas look like solid second and third options once Zion returns, Devonte’ Graham has shot the ball well and rookie Herb Jones has been the best 2nd-round pick in the NBA so far this season.
But none of it works without Zion Williamson, who hasn’t entertained with his thunderous dunks yet but is trying to do it with his anime drip.
New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson’s anime suit is something
I would consider myself a minor fan of anime, in that I know of its existence, have watched some and did enjoy it.
I am definitely not an expert, so when I saw this suit Zion Williamson was wearing I thought it was some kind of optical illusion:

I have to say, I do like the shoes, but that suit (especially the vest) looks like a homemade halloween costume.
Zion Williamson has been clowned for his outfits before and was well aware of the response he would get from this one, but didn’t care, as it was a shoutout to anime fans, and apparently he is one of them.
Here he is talking about the outfit, which was apparently designed by a friend of his from college.
I am definitely no fashionista but I’d say Zion should probably lose that friend’s number, as they didn’t do my man any favors with that outfit.
Hopefully Zion Williamson will return soon, but I’d be ok if the anime suit was put on the permanent injured list, though I am certainly not going to be the one to call a 290 lb. superhuman a nerd.
