New Orleans Pelicans: Kira Lewis Jr.

Worry Level: Low

Kira Lewis Jr. falls on the low end of the worry meter simply because he is still only 20-years-old and I had low expectations for him coming into the season.

Lewis Jr. has shown signs of progress though his numbers are down from his rookie season. He still struggles to score the ball from all three levels and really has to develop some kind of consistent floater or mid-range game if he is ever going to be an effective offensive player.

He has shown improvements on defense at times, and has strung together a few good games recently.

Point guard is not an easy position to learn, and very few 20-year-old point guards have been good in the NBA, so I expect Kira to continue to get better as the season goes on.

But I will say that I am still not sure what he’s going to be in the NBA. Is he going to be a quick, change-of-pace backup? A guy that can score 18-20 a game off the bench as an “instant offense” type player? Can he start on a good team in the NBA?

I have a lot of questions about Kira Lewis Jr. and think the Pelicans blew this pick, but he still has a lot of time to figure it out.
