New Orleans Pelicans: Brandon Ingram is playing like an MVP candidate

Ever since returning from an injury that forced him to miss seven games, Brandon Ingram has been playing like an MVP candidate.

In his last eight games, BI is averaging 27.8 points, 5.7 assists and six rebounds while only turning it over 1.7 times per game.

He’s averaging career highs in assists and rebounds and is right at his normal scoring average of around 24 per game and rising.

BI has been handling the ball more and facilitating the offense with Zion Williamson out, and is doing it without dribbling too much or turning the ball over, something that has been a problem for him in his career.

Not only that, but he has been much-improved on the defensive end, something that people haven’t talked about much this year.

His defensive rating has improved by five points this season, he is more active off the ball and his additional defensive rebounds are helping the Pels close out possessions.

Ingram is playing like an MVP right now, which is making the Pels competitive in these games and could be enough to get them into the play-in, especially if they can add talent.
